Smart and small.
Pioneer created the Rayz sub brand to carve out a niche for smart, noise-cancelling audio products that interoperated exclusively with Apple devices. We hooked up with them to help create user experience, industrial design, and packaging design solutions for the initial range of launch products which include the Pioneer Rayz earphones.
Pioneer Rayz is one of a kind and the ONLY Lightning earphones that enables iPhone charging while in use with an integrated Charging Port. Rayz features lower power consumption in a very small package with on-board, bleeding-edge noise cancelling technology that adapts to the user's ear and environment. The Rayz experience is completely customizable with the Rayz iPhone app with features such as Hear-Thru Mode that lets in just enough ambient sound without deactivating noise cancelling, AutoPause which automatically pauses your music when you remove your earbuds, Smart Mute which silences your mic when you aren't speaking, and One Touch Siri activation. Many of these features can be customized to work with the Smart Button on the controller which gives the user the power to call up a favorite app, mute / unmute calls, or launch the free Rayz app.
The packaging is part of the Pioneer Rayz total product experience. Small and compact, the Rayz box features the product in a jewel-like setting and describes the major features of the earphones. It also includes a quick-start guide to get the user up and running within minutes of opening the box. We also developed Bronze and Graphite metallic color solutions to please Pioneer customers as well as Rose Gold metallic and Ebony for Apple-exclusive retail markets.
